Gavin's Story

In March of 2008, Gavin was diagnosed with an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) the size of a large orange. It had also already spread from his brain to his spine by the time he was diagnosed. He had a 98% tumor resection of the brain tumor before starting treatment through the Modified IRS-III protocol. This included 6 weeks of initial chemotherapy, 6 weeks of craniospinal radiation, and more chemotherapy every 3 weeks until the end of June 2009. He has been blessed with 6 clear MRI scans in a row. Garrett's Story

Garrett did not develop his gross motor skills as we expected he should. After two pediatricians tried to convince me that he was normal, we decided to have him evaluated by a physical therapist. He easily qualified for therapy and has been in PT for nearly 2 years now. He has low muscle tone (hypotonia) of unknown origin. All testing that his neurologist has done thus far has come back normal. The only test that we really haven't done for this is a muscle biopsy. However, the neurologist feels that whatever the results, it wouldn't change our plan of care -- more physical therapy. All of the things on his list of possible diagnoses are not curable. We pray that God would continue to bless Garrett with excellent progress in therapy and that no formal diagnosis would ever need to be found.

I have learned that if you buy from the Scentsy Fundraiser that I mentioned in my last post, there is an automatic invitation that is emailed to you. It invites you to a real life Scentsy party.
