One of Gavin's little fellow AT/RT warriors was able to come to the party - Ryan Goldblatt. He's in the middle of radiation right now and we're praying that it is life saving. So good to see them. You just have a special bond with people when you can so deeply relate to what the other family is going through. Ryan looked great! Please keep him in your prayers. This is such an important time for them.
And thoughts of sweet Ty and his family -- especially his Mommy, since we've become such dear friends -- were never far from my mind. It seemed wrong that she was mourning in Abilene while were were throwing a party in our neck of the woods. To say that my heart is breaking for them right now is an understatement. Many children die in this pediatric cancer club that we were forced to join. But, this is the closest it has hit to home. And it makes me very sad.
Out of sheer respect for Ty's family, I have decided to wait to post anything further about Gavin's birthday party until after his funeral on Tuesday. It just doesn't feel right otherwise.
Please keep the Nordstrom family in your prayers. And if you live anywhere near Abilene, Texas and have been touched by Ty's journey, I know the family would love to have you come to his service. I know I wouldn't miss it for the world. I have been forever touched by Ty and the valiant life that he led.
Thanks for checking in.
Much love,
